Daddy Daughter Play Time

Josh has been so busy with his bands this summer that he's been missing his girls. So on our day off, after our hike, we decided to hit the park for a picnic and some daddy-daughter play time.

My husband loves me

I know that my husband loves me. I see proof of that every day.

One example.....

I have a horrible sense of direction, but I think I know where I'm going. My husband freely admits he doesn't always know, so he asks me. I tell him where to go and he faithfully follows my directions, almost always resulting in us going the wrong way.

He never yells at me for being wrong, just irritated. Every time he says, "why do I listen to you?" But will inevitably listen the next time.

When I asked him why he still listens he responded, "because you might be right." He has faith that I will be right the next time and trusts me every time. I don't trust myself anymore, but he still does. :)

Pumpkin Patch

On Monday this week you got a taste of the pumpkin patch. Today I shall show you more.

Audrey seemed to have so much fun that day, it was hard to leave, despite having not napped all day.

Mommy and Me Monday - 9/6/10

Mommy and Me Monday at Really, Are You Serious?
Hosted by Krystyn at Really, Are You Serious?

We decided to go to the zoo this weekend to show Audrey the animals. The last time she was at the zoo she was only about 5 months old and not aware enough to enjoy it. This is Josh, Audrey and me in front of the chimpanzees. They were very active, and one is a little on the feisty side and kept charging the glass, which is what she's looking at.  You can see his head behind Josh's arm.

Open Mic Night

Last Friday night, our church hosted Open Mic Worship Night.  We all participated.  Andrew played his guitar, I played piano, Kymberly played a song she wrote, and Josh did a drum solo.

Here is Josh's drum solo.

Birthday Brag Blog

Today is Joshua's 36th birthday.

Yesterday's "Priceless" post bragged about him and his new God-journey. Today's post is just bragging about him.

I love my husband very much.

He provides for us emotionally, financially, domestically.

He is better at housework than me. And he never complains that he does most of the chores. Nor does he often ask for help.

He is AWESOME with Audrey. Always helping me when he can - changing diapers, entertaining, getting dressed, showers, bed, feeding, etc. It's obvious that we are PARTNERS in this parent thing.

He is a great dad to his other two children too. Instructing them, disciplining them, loving them. Letting them be themselves. Showing them how to love God. Chatting with them on their level. Never teasing or criticizing.

He is constantly showing love for me in romantic ways. Telling me I'm beautiful when I'm feeling at my worst (and unprompted even). WANTING to spend time with me. Doing my mundane errands with me. Letting me go shopping when I feel a shopping bug. Not complaining about shopping for my things when he's with me. Playing silly games with me. Kissing me randomly. Dancing with me in the kitchen.

Happy Birthday Joshua. I'm glad you are in my life and you get to live another year!!!!

Finding a hobby and Niche in church: PRICELESS!

When we moved to the new house and instantly had lots of extra room and no shared walls, Josh bought himself a drumset. He's played a little here and there since high school, but never owned his own kit.

He did lots of reading and research and found the pieces that he needed/wanted to make his kit work for him. He watches oodles of youtube videos to get ideas. He is constantly reading about technique.

He is a 100% self-taught drummer. He's committed to being the best he could be.

At our church membership class he announced that he likes to play the drums. Pastor Mike immediately passed Josh's name on to the new worship leader. After some auditions and some practices with the band and prayer, Josh started playing drums in the church. It started as 1 Sunday every few weeks and has grown so that he's the primary drummer at the church.

He gets comments almost weekly about how animated he is and how much people enjoy watching him play. How he helps bring others into a worshipful spirit and mindset.

Through his involvement on the worship team, he has met some great Christian men and has begun forming friendships. Brian is his first real Christian friend. He has seen God at work. He has deepened his love for the Lord.

His primary music is now the worship music that he practices for church. He runs to it. Listens to it in the car. Throws on the Christian radio station in the car, or the Christian music channel on the TV. His first reaction to a difficult scenario now is to pray. His parenting styles now include time for prayer and advising the kids to pray about their paths.

He is challenging me and convicting me in certain areas of my life.

He has been transformed into a strong spiritual leader for our family.

It's been so neat to be close to the transformation and watch it happen.

Praise God for our drumset.

Weekly Happenings - Happy April!

New/Noteworthy:
Not really for me, but I'm so proud of him I just have to brag.
Josh started playing softball for the church softball team.
He also talked with the new worship pastor of the church and is going to start playing drums for the church after we're finished with our Lamaze class.

Interesting Activity:
Softball practice on Sunday afternoon
Softball game on Monday night (they won 6-3)

Biggest Accomplishments:
Got bills paid tonight with no arguing.
OK, we usually don't argue. But we still did it and I consider that an accomplishment.

Also sent off the first of MANY tax payments tonight.

I also talked with my boss today about my maternity leave. That was a conversation I was dreading, so that's an accomplishment.

Where We Went:
Went to Guitar Center (and didn't buy anything)
Went to Lamaze
Went to church
Went to softball
I tutored

What I Learned:
Learned two techniques of relaxation breathing, and a position for coach to be in to help relax.

Weekend Plans:
Touring the hospital tomorrow.
Sunday going to Costco with Becky (Josh's sister).

Fun Photos:

These are a few photos from the softball game last Monday.

Thankful Thursday

Today I'm thankful for my husband. He's a rock. We've had a rough week with fears of finances with upcoming taxes and baby coming and other personal things that have me just totally flustered. While he is concerned and we're taking strides to improve our financial situation, he's really been great for me in helping me stay grounded. He's reassurred me on my personal fears and struggles. He's been a support for me all week long when I feel like I just want to collapse and hide away.

Thank you baby. I love you.
